Club visit to Talwada on February 20
The formal inauguration of the solar lighting project that has been set up in Talwada village of Thane district, where the Rotary Club of Bombay runs two hospitals (the Hasanali Tobaccowala Eye Centre and the Ajit Deshpande Medical Centre), will take place on Saturday, February 20.
As already reported, a total of 105 solar-powered tube lights and 10 street lights (inside the compounds of the two hospitals) have been set up and these have been lighting up all parts of the hospitals, providing clean, renewable and sustainable power.
Community Service II Director Ramesh Narayan and Green Vision Committee Chairman Jagdish Malkani have assiduously overseen the implementation of the project. Thanks to this, load-shedding, power-tripping, frequent use of generators and the like are now things of the past.
Ramesh has specially thanked Shailesh Haribhakti, Ram Gandhi and the Indian Merchants’ Chamber for sharing their “green vision” and for financing the entire project – one of the significant milestones in this Rotary year, what with “environment” being identified as a District thrust area.
All Club members are invited for the formal inauguration (on Saturday, February 20). Further details are available with Jagdish Malkani and the Rotary Secretariat.
