Members of the Rotaract Club of H.R. College started planning this project at the beginning of the year – they decided that they would go visiting and, in the process, "Exploring India", too. They firmly believe that "a journey is best measured in friends rather than in miles".
And so it was that they set off on a tour of central India, the State of Madhya Pradesh to be precise, in the first half of the current Rotary year. They visited three places of popular tourist and historic interest, viz., Jabalpur, Bandhavgarh and Khajuraho.
It may be recalled that during the previous Rotary year the Rotaractors of H.R. College had travelled to Egypt where they interacted with their counterparts in Cairo and established sister-Club relations with them.
The formation of sister-Club relations is one of the three important aspects of the Club’s annual visits. The other two are joint activities with their host Club members and, of course, "having a lot of fun" with Rotaractors from different parts of the world.
Apart from that are certain "value additions" such as talent contests, exchanging T-shirts and badges, postcard-writing, a competition to choose "Mr. & Mrs. Explorer" and so on.
In the words of one Rotaractor, "It was a wonderful experience meeting them (the Rotaractors of Jabalpur) and knowing their Club... The activities we conducted were very different and taught everyone something or other".
