‘Bhavishya-Yaan’ seeks mentors

The Bhavishya-Yaan Project of the Club’s Education Committee is looking for members to volunteer for its mentoring programme at Dr. Ambedkar School, Worli.

The time commitment is two hours per week as per the following slots on Friday and Saturday:10 am to 12 noon; 1 pm to 3 pm;and 3 pm to 5 pm.

The volunteers who agree to become mentors would be guided by professional counsellors. A training programme will be held for them from 1pm to 4 pm on Saturday, August 1.

Club members, their families, friends and relatives can also volunteer to become mentors. All that they have to do is to contact Preeti Mehta on 9820028504 for the venue and other details.

By a remarkable coincidence, the beginning of the new Rotary year corresponds with the commencement of the new scholastic year in city schools.
Rotary Club of Bombay Queen City has taken cue from Rotary Club of Bombay and launched the Bhavishya-yaan project at the Banganga Muncipal School.
150 Bhavishya-yaan children from Dr. Ambedkar School & Colaba Municipal School had a great time at the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils on 13th April 2010.
Vidya has organized a summer camp for all the Bhavishya-yaan children of Colaba who are not going to their hometown and were interested in joining this summer camp.
This is a unique program where the Bhavishya-yaan students will be teaching their own mothers and in turn imparting education to better their lives.
He has been variously described as an advertising professional, a photographer, a writer and a farmer. But Ramesh Narayan is quite clear that his first love is writing.
The meeting of Tuesday, January 5, 2010, was devoted to a Fellowship luncheon hosted by PP Nalin and Anita Parikh. But members were in for a surprise – they had their first look at a short film made on the Club’s ongoing Bhavishya-Yaan project.

The Bhavishya-Yaan initiative of the Club, which took its first baby steps as a pilot project during the last Rotary year, is now poised to take its first giant stride.
The Bhavishya-Yaan programme, which was launched during the last Rotary year as a pilot project, has grown by leaps and bounds. Not only has it been recognised as one of the pioneering initiatives of the Rotary Club of Bombay, it has also won acclaim from the Club and the District.
